The researchers lost control of an experimental weapon and the resulting explosion decimated the continent, ripping it into a few scattered islands. The Great Void is an official skirmish map from Supreme Commander.
Space[]
Although the map size is 40x40, each island can only hold so many resources, posing large problems to players that love big open spaces for their experimental foundries or power grids.
Trivia[]
- In SC1, the central island was the site of a ruined base, one which crucially contained a Duke T3 Artillery Installation, and the small bases on the surrounding islands were ruined. Come Forged Alliance, the Duke was replaced by a small defensive grid composed of T2 TMLs and T2 Artillery protected by a T2 shield, with all ruined structures restored to pristine condition, including a UEF T3 Air Factory.
- This renders The Great Void one of only two maps in the game where civilian factory units are present, the other being Syrtis Major.
