Tech 2 Amphibious Tanks are variants on their faction's standard direct fire units, with the cross-factional unifying feature of having high speed of 3.7 units per second. This puts them among the fastest land units in the game (just behind T1 light assault bots), making them excellent at pursuing fleeing targets and kiting. Aside from being amphibious, they are a per unit upgrade for UEF and Cybran, costing more and being tougher than their T2 heavy tanks. However for Aeon and Seraphim, the Aeon Blaze isn't so due to its counterpart Obsidian having an excellent shield, and neither is the Yenzyne due to the Ilshavoh likewise being heavily armored. These tanks are otherwise quite variable in general, including price and the role they play on the battlefield, but all of them are useful units in the correct situation.

Factional differences[]

The UEF Riptide is by far more powerful one to one than other UEF land units, also costing more - its cost and DPS more in line with an Obsidian or an Ilshavoh, as opposed to the Pillar - the UEF's Heavy Tank. While the Riptide is more expensive than these units, there is no doubt it is less powerful, so it should not be deployed blindly. The Riptide has the highest DPS of any UEF T2 land unit, however it suffers from extremely short range.

The Cybran Wagner is the only one of the 4 amphibious tanks not to hover, instead crawling along the bottom. While this helps keep it concealed against opponents who do not have sonar, this leaves it exposed to submarines and torpedo launchers, its secondary torpedoes being all but useless in a fight with naval units. The Wagner compensates for this shortcoming with the highest DPS of any of the amphibious tanks- with two 50 DPS weapons, it is, like the Riptide for the UEF, the most powerful Cybran T2 land unit.

The Aeon and Seraphim amphibious tanks fulfil much the same role as one another - they are cheaper than their main T2 direct fire units and more mobile - allowing them to fulfil the role of skirmishing tanks early on, however as the Aeon Blaze has a longer range and higher rate of fire than the Seraphim Yenzyne, the Yenzyne is arguably the weakest of the four amphibious tanks in terms of firepower (but not significantly less than the Blaze), but still wins 1v1 against the Blaze due to its extra 250 health.
