ModernWarfare (WMF; working title)[1] is a concept for a mod based on military hardware of the early 21st century.

This concept is still largely unfinished; feel free to contribute!

Premise Edit

The aim is to create a realistic mod focusing on tactical combat while making use of SupCom's large-scale maps.

All branches of the military - army, navy and air force - will be represented in the game.

Basic Concepts Edit

There will be (at least) two factions: NATO (U.S. and European units) and a Middle Eastern or Asian coalition. These will be very similiar initially; a greater differentiation might be introduced in later versions.

Each player will starts with a construction unit to build the main base (headquarters). Major buildings (e.g. production facilities) can only be constructed in a certain radius around the HQ. Forward Operating Bases can be built to expand the territory, but these allow only the construction of support and defense structures.

Neutral facilities on the map can be conquered for resources (e.g. oil refineries) or special benefits (e.g. long-range cannons or airfields), resulting in "king of the hill"-style gameplay.

If technically possible, units will gain experience through combat and advance in rank, thus enhancing their abilities.

Footnotes Edit

  1. This name was chosen to properly represent the scenario. However, the term is rather generic, which might make it hard to find using search engines - hopefully, the WikiWord style will remedy this issue.
