A frigate is a type of tech 1 ship. Frigates are used for harassment in the early game and as picket ships in the later stages; more for their support abilities than their firepower. They have weaker bombardment capabilities when compared to other surface ships. In addition to their main weaponry, they also have some type of support function as well. The Beacon Class Aeon frigate has an anti-torpedo weapon, the Trident Class Cybran frigate has an anti-air weapon, the Thunderhead Class UEF frigate has both anti-air and a radar jamming system and the Hau-esel Seraphim frigate also has an anti-air system.

For a complete list of frigates, see the frigates category.

Factional differences[]

The UEF Thunderhead class is the only frigate to have radar jamming capabilities, and has the worst cannon dps. However, its AA gun and health are the best of the four.

The Cybran Trident class has the best cannon in terms of dps, featuring a modest AA gun and more health than its Aeon counterpart.

The Seraphim Hau-esel has the 2nd best health and the 3rd best cannon of the four frigates, but its cannon has the least initial shot damage. It also features an AA gun matching that of its Cybran counterpart.

The Beacon class has the 2nd highest dps across its 2 cannons and no anti-air, however it has the lowest health. It features an anti-torpedo system that, although helpful, takes too long for it to do much to support the Aeon's submarines. The Beacon class does feature the best initial shot damage of the four frigates, which combined with its torpedo defense, enables it to be a good hit-and-run unit and a nightmare for surfaced submarines that can be lured to the surface by a few of the Aeon's scouts, which conveniently hover.
