The Aeon T3 Missile Ship, nicknamed the Torrent Class, is an Aeon naval unit.
With an impressive ROF, this vessel is able to overwhelm shields and tactical missile defenses quite easily. With its torpedo defenses, it is possible for this ship to defend itself against small mixed T1-T2 submarine fleets for some time. This ship provides excellent shore bombardment.
When ordering the Torrent Class to attack, target stationary objects such as factories, power generators or artillery first. This unit has no direct fire weapon and relies solely on its tactical missiles so it has a problem with moving targets. Therefore, do not use the Torrent Class ship to spearhead an attack, but rather in a support role to pick off shoreline defenses from far away.
The Torrent Class is very fragile for a T3 naval unit, especially compared with a Battleship, or even the UEF's Neptune-class. It is also slower than most naval units. Despite its torpedo defenses, it should be kept as far away from naval encounters as possible.
The Torrent Class, while not prohibitively expensive, takes an absurdly long time to construct- longer than many experimentals. Do not attempt to build one without assisting your naval factory with as many engineers as you can spare, or you'll find yourself waiting a very long time for the ship to finish building.
The Torrent Class is considered a "Missile Ship" in-game, but could possibly be considered a "Guided Missile Battlecruiser".
Trivia[]
- Despite being a T3 unit, the Torrent Class takes much more time to build than other experimentals as stated above - the only units that take longer to build are T3 Battleships, the game enders of each faction, and the Salvation.
